Architectural Review

  • What types of exterior modifications can I make to my home without requiring approval of the association?

All exterior modifications or improvements should be approved through the community association’s architectural control process.

If you are refreshing existing areas with the same colors and materials original to the home (original builder/developer installed), then approval is not required.

Modification approval is not required for repairs to fencing, roofs, or other exterior components if the work involves replacing or repairing with the same materials, color, and design as originally constructed. However, if you plan to change the style, color, type, or materials, you must submit a Modification Application for approval in advance.

Please note that unauthorized changes—such as installing unapproved fencing (including different wood types, stain colors, or designs)—are a common issue and can result in costly corrections to bring the property back into compliance. Do not rely on guidance from contractors, realtors, or previous modifications as confirmation that a change is acceptable. Many such recommendations (or reliance on an undocumented approval) do not meet community guidelines, and homeowners remain responsible for compliance.

  • Where do I find my community's architectural modification request form?

The architectural modification request is done digitally and through TownSq. More info. can be found here: West Bellfort POA (Houston) | TownSq Community App | Architectural Requests

  • What's the process for submitting the application? How long does it take to get approval?

Once the application is submitted it will be reviewed by the Architectural Review Committee. This committee is tasked by the Board of Directors to review each submission to determine that the request is in compliance with the association’s architectural guidelines. A response from the committee may take as many as 30 days from the date of submission. Please ensure that you provide as much information as possible with your application to avoid delays.

  • Can my architectural review application be expedited?

Yes, for an expedited fee of $45, applications can be reviewed within 10 days instead of the standard 30-day timeframe. This option is available in the Architectural Review section in TownSq.

  • What is the status of my application?

If you have not heard from the Architectural Review Committee within 30 days from the date of submission, please submit a request via TownSq or email your Community Manager at HWBELmanager@goodwintx.com
